Dave Connolly

Dave grew up in Toxteth, inner city Liverpool in a non-Christian family with little exposure to the Gospel of Christ. He first heard the gospel at the age of 8 in Sunday school. He went for 3 weeks and he can clearly remember each of those 3 talks.. they impacted his life. The seed was sown, but it would take years to grow. God pursued Dave relentlessly until he finally surrendered his life to Jesus in the early 70’s.

Before committing to full time ministry in 1991, Dave trained and served as a nurse for a number of years. During this time he lead a small group and grew into a lay leader in his house church. Over time, the house church moved into a church building and was called Bethany, which eventually evolved into Frontline Church were he served until 2015. In Dave’s time with the church they saw significant multiplication and abundant blessings.

In 2015 Dave became pastor of Toxteth Tabernacle Baptist church. This was a real blessing.. and a real change. The Tab, as it’s fondly known, had history as a Baptist flagship church, but in recent years numbers had declined. Dave felt called for a season to the Toxteth Tabernacle to help refocus the church on loving God and making Him known in their community. That process began and continued in spite of the covid-19 pandemic.

In September 2021 Dave felt it was time to step aside and hand the church over to a pastor who had trained alongside him as co-pastor at the Tab. Dave welcomed and encouraged a new, younger leadership team to evolve, and they continue to do a great job leading the tab into the future. Though Dave has stepped a side from being pastor, Dave and his wife Julie still attend the Tab as their home church. Dave and Julie both minister in other situations and churches across the region. They have 3 grown-up children and 5 wonderful grandchildren.

Over the years, Dave has discipled many leaders and supported a multitude of churches and ministries. And this is where his heart is. In this season of life, Dave wants to focus on serving the Church, the body of Christ. Not simply one congregation here and one there, but the whole of God’s people. He longs to see historic revival ignited in Merseyside and beyond, and this is why he formed Gathered to be Scattered. His ministry focuses on prayer and re-capturing people’s imaginations. Dave serves the church in numerous activities and he has served the church both here at home, across the UK, North Africa, Europe, the United States, and the Ukraine. Most people won’t know that he served as an operational police chaplain for a number and he lovedit. God is on the move. Dave just wants to move with Him.
